Rethinking the kelvin

As part of the plan to redefine four of the seven base units of SI measurement, the temperature scale measured in Kelvin will shift from being standardized against the triple point of water to being standardized against an exact value of the Boltzmann constant. Perhaps the largest concern with using the triple point of water as the standard mark is that it has a relatively low degree of accuracy, limiting the potential maximum accuracy of other temperature measurements.
